Each year esri.com has over 36 million total visits from customers at various stages of the customer journey. The thousands of pages that make up the site help users discover Esri and its software, understand its uses and value, purchase products, attend in person and virtual events, receive support and training, and get the latest thought leadership through blogs, podcasts, and video content.

My team is tasked with creating lasting experiences that inform, engage, support and inspire, while advancing business, product, marketing and sales objectives through compelling design and engaging content. Our goal is to create a unified global experience that can be easily measured and managed, while connecting with people on a lasting level. In order to get there, the team relies on foundational standards that prioritize creating an emotional connection with users and building trust in the brand.

The team leading this work is a talented group UX/UI designers that collaborate with cross-functioning teams of project managers, researchers, writers, cms authors, and developers. Design managers and leads include Stefanie Tieman, Alex Smailes, Amanda McKinley, Paul Briseño, Thanh Hoang, Jay Shapiro, Justine Leach, Nick Bauch, Rhia Pumhirun, and Dimitri Lundquist. Supporting video, illustration, graphic, and animations teams are led by Peter Stonier, Suzanne Hoyt, Tammy Johnson, Steve Frizzel, and Kyle Heinemann along with Esri’s Chief Creative Officer, James Hitchcock.

The art direction guide sets standards for visual design and is used to create a unified look and feel with a focus on consistency, scalability, simplicity and clarity.

The visual language of the site is built on clear, concise, and scalable compositions that quickly communicate big picture concepts.
