Outdoor clothing giant, The North Face needed an extensive set of icons to quickly communicate the complex technical features of each of their products and product categories, within a space no larger than fifty by fifty pixels. Working with Berkeley based design agency Tomorrow Partners and Design Director Katie Heit Gardner, early rounds explored a number of different stylistic directions before landing on a minimal, single-line weight approach that used one color to tell each story. The final set of over 80 icons was implemented on thenorthface.com and used on product materials.
